Being a single parent is an arduous task but not without some stories of success. A single parent is faced with the same challenges that face most parents but they do it on their own. Being the sole provider for a child makes the task doubly hard. All this and so much more factor in to what single parents must endeavour to prepare their child for the world. Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States of America also was raised by only his mother as his father died in a car crash 3 months before he was born.

Deborah Phelps & Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps the US swim team Gold medallist in the 2008 Olympics was raised in a family where his parents got divorced while growing up, this did not derail him from his success in the Olympics as he stayed with his mother who allowed him to continue on focusing on his sport.

Tom Cruise, Al Pacino, Demi Moore, Halle Berry are famous Hollywood actors/actresses that have made their mark in the entertainment industry and are known the world over for many successful movies that grossed hundreds of millions of dollars, all of them raised in a single parent home.

These are just some of the famous personalities that prove that while statistics favor children raised by both parents to be more successful and have more opportunities, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t a chance for children raised in single parents situations to be successful and enjoy the same or have even better opportunities.
